A Promise Kept
Earlier
this year we told you about Diane Wang, a member of Lighthouse
Baptist from Xi An in Mainland China, who had
us call long distance to witness to her mother and younger
brother. She had a real burden for them to hear the gospel
and be saved. We told Diane that we would try to get someone
traveling to that area to visit them. Then, when the SARS
outbreak brought travel to Mainland China to a virtual halt
we told her that Andy would go if no one else could. Praise
the Lord, the SARS problem faded and a Chinese pastor from
Taiwan was able to visit Diane’s family. Not only was
this promise kept, but the Lord blessed beyond measure when
her mother and brother attended a meeting and accepted Christ
as Savior! Our promise paled in the light of how God kept
His promise. Please pray that they can get into a good house
church and grow in the Lord.
Additionally, Diane has been working hard to bring her unsaved
husband to Christ. Recently, he has attended our Sunday evening
service. After one service he told me that he was impressed
by how his wife has changed for the better since being saved.
He also asked many spiritual questions that showed us he is
struggling to place his faith in a God he cannot see or touch.
On an island filled with idol worship this is a common situation.
Please pray for him to place his faith in Christ.
Still Seeking
The Lord continues to bless our Tuesday morning Ladies’ Meeting
at Lighthouse. Several unsaved ladies have been faithfully
attending, and we believe that a few are close to accepting
Christ. Among these are Anne Lai and Shirley Guo. We also ask
you to pray for Huang Hsiou-ling. Her son Willie (Wang Jong-wei)
attends the Wednesday afternoon Children’s Bible Class.
After one class he expressed a desire to be saved. Since his
mother was there, we talked with her first and she was concerned
that he was too young. We invited her to attend and discover
for herself who Jesus is and what we teach and believe. Praise
the Lord she has attended several Ladies’ Meetings. Please
join us in praying for her to understand and be saved.
Successful Campaign
Thank you for your prayers for the Fall Campaign at Taya Bible
Baptist Church. Throughout the month there were several first
time visitors. The final Sunday saw the people of the church
promise about US$325 a month for world missions. This was
their first time to participate in a Faith Promise offering,
and we believe that their faith will continue to grow. Already,
this offering should be enough for the church to support
at least one more missionary. Our desire is to see the Chinese
Christians join us in fulfilling all aspects of the Great
Commission. Thank you for your faithfulness in praying and
giving so that this may be possible.
For
souls,
