November 2004
Happy Anniversary!
Thank you for praying for
our sixth anniversary service at Lighthouse Baptist. More than
eighty-five people attended including a group from a sister
church and several unsaved students from our adult English
outreach and ladies' meeting. The Lord even provided a special
speaker as Bill and Dorothy Merritt, former missionaries in
the Philippines now working with SMORS (Skilled Missionaries
Offering Relief Service), encouraged and challenged our people.
After experiencing several setbacks and trials this year as
a few of our people fell away from the Lord or were drawn into
cults, we pray that this will refocus and re-energize them.
The
work at Daya Bible Baptist Church has shown good progress
recently. We are especially encouraged that some of the adults
from the English class taught by fellow missionary Dave Green
have also been attending the Sunday service. Several of them
need to be saved and a few others need to be scripturally
baptized and discipled.
Christmas is Coming
As Christmas draws near,
we have already been busy preparing posters, handbills, and
Christmas tracts in addition to all the other decorations,
practices and preparations for our special outreach services
throughout the month at both churches. However, without the
Lord's blessings all this effort will have been in vain. Please
earnestly pray that we will reach many souls with the message
of Christmas and that some will be saved.
Finally, we ask for
your prayers as we will be making a short trip to the US
after Christmas for a family wedding and take care of some
personal business. Just planning this trip has been challenging
due to the lack of missionaries, pastors and workers among
our churches in Taiwan . Even as we write this letter,
we are the only independent Baptist missionary couple in our
area as one couple had to go home on an extended medical
furlough and another had to go back briefly due to a death
in the family. Please pray that our people will step up and
serve the Lord, and also that He will provide more laborers
for this needy field.
May the Lord bless you and give you
a wonderful Christmas season!
For
souls,
