Thank You, Mom
In
Taiwan , Mother's Day is a very important holiday. Taking advantage
of this, Lisa and the ladies at Lighthouse hosted several activities.
The first was a special afternoon tea held during our Wednesday
Bible club time. It was well attended by kids, moms and even
a grandmother. They were treated to special snacks, a presentation
of music and poems, and a craft for the children and their
mothers to do together. In addition, Lisa shared a Bible lesson
about two great mothers of the Bible. We were especially pleased
to have some first time visitors whose children have continued
attending.
Then,
the teens had a Mother-Daughter Tea at a local tea house on Friday
evening. Hannah Huang's mother, who was recently injured in a
motorcycle accident, even came in a wheel chair. She has been
so touched by the kindness of our people and has said that after
she recovers she would like to attend our ladies' meeting. We
pray that this step in the right direction will lead to the salvation
of Chen Bea-ju.
Our Mother's Day services at both churches were
very special with some first time visitors. The children made
a presentation to honor their moms, a special Bible message was
shared, and, of course, gifts were given as thanks to all mothers.
The only question is …what will we do for Father's Day???
Wisdom
Having
completed our discipleship course, several adults at Lighthouse
expressed an interest in further Bible study. To meet this
need, we started a Bible class on Saturday afternoons. We are
currently studying the Book of Proverbs and it has been encouraging
to see some grasp spiritual truths and begin putting them into
action. We wish that all of our people would have the desire
to grow spiritually. Please pray that we would have patience
and wisdom to help them make spiritual progress.
Along
this line, we ask special prayer for the Lin family (Tommy
and Vanessa). After being saved and baptized around Easter
of this year, they have fallen away despite contacts and encouragement
from our people. It has been painful and discouraging to the
church folks, and we don't want them to become “weary in well
doing”.
The
building situation for Lighthouse Baptist Church remains unchanged.
One real estate agent has advised us to wait out the landlord
of our current building because his price was too high. His
hope is that the landlord will be more reasonable and then
he can find a person to buy the building and continue renting
it to us. We have also looked at several other buildings but
are concerned that their location will be a hindrance to our
children's ministry. Several others have either been unsuitable
for services or too expensive. Your continued prayers are about
this are appreciated.
We are also busy getting ready for summer
activities. Lisa already has the ladies working hard to prepare
for VBS, and registration for teen camp is underway. With your
continued prayers and sacrificial giving more lives are and
will be changed for the glory of the Lord! Thank You!
For
souls,
