Recovery
Thank you for your prayers for Andy’s recovery from his
motorcycle accident. The torn ligament in his shoulder did
not require surgery but it did slow him down for a few weeks.
Now he is almost back to normal with only a little tightness
and pain.
The Master of the Storm
We also thank you for praying for our youth camp. The tragic death of fellow
missionary Malcom Feistel’s daughter left us unexpectedly heading up
the camp. This, coupled with Andy’s accident, caused some changes in
the original plan; but we didn’t know that the Lord had even greater
alterations in store. With camp less than a week away, a typhoon headed toward
Taiwan. At first we weren’t too concerned because there was plenty
of time for it to blow through and let us dry out. However, this storm did
more damage after it left us than while it was here (in fact, it severely
devastated areas hurt by the 7.4 earthquake that occurred a few years ago)
and you can guess which area was hardest hit - yes, our camp area! Instead
of canceling, we decided to use the facilities of Daya Bible Baptist Church
and hold a three-day camp. The rain continued to fall all the first day and
by that night a gate at the reservoir had collapsed and we lost all water
for four days. Despite the bad weather and change in plans, about seventy
teens and counselors attended. Bro. Stuart Coffman, youth pastor at Winter
Haven Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida and his son, Andy, were our
guest speakers. Stuart preached tremendous Bible messages as well as performing
some “gospel magic” and sharing some crazy games with the teens.
As a result, two boys accepted Christ as Savior (both from Lighthouse Baptist)
and many others dedicated themselves to the Lord! Additionally, the Lord
blessed in the youth meeting after camp at Lighthouse as Andy Coffman gave
a devotion and four girls accepted Christ as Savior! Praise the Lord for
His goodness! He is still the Master of All of Life’s Storms! Please
pray for those who were saved and for our Vacation Bible School.
For
souls,
