Joy for the World
Our Christmas service at Lighthouse had an international flavor
this year with flags and garland hanging together in the auditorium
along with a children’s presentation stressing that Jesus came to
save all the people of the world. Praise the Lord that our small
building was packed with about 120 people of all ages, including
several first time visitors. Even though there wasn’t much room,
everyone had a good spirit and listened intently to the special
music, plays and challenge from the Bible. Once again, we ask you to
pray that this seed sown will in time bear fruit.
A Missionary and a Motorcycle
During November we had Bro. Dante Elupre, missionary to Vietnam,
come to Lighthouse and share his ministry. The church supports three
missionaries, and we told him that we may not be able to help
another missionary yet because it was a struggle to reach the
current commitment. However, when we talked with one of the men in
the church, he said that we should add him to our missionary family.
We were glad when the rest of the members also agreed to support the
Elupre family and are praying that they will meet this increased
challenge. In addition, Bro. Elupre shared the need in his ministry
for a motorcycle. Dali Faith Baptist Church had given half of the
needed amount the previous year, but no one else had done anything
to help. Later that week, one of the Lighthouse members gave us an
envelope with the needed amount to buy the vehicle. It is exciting
to see some of the Christians beginning to get a world vision and
burden for lost souls and missionary work.
Needed: Encouragement
We continue to ask for your prayers concerning Dali Faith Baptist
Church. The new Chinese pastor, Peter Wang, has become a bit
discouraged as several of the Chinese members have fallen away
leaving the church with just a few faithful people. In November, one
of those was in a severe auto accident and suffered head injuries.
After several weeks in the hospital, she was able to go home and
even recovered enough to attend the Christmas service. Because of
her love for the Lord and our shortage of workers, Melissa Wu is
already back helping in the children’s Bible class. Please pray for
guidance as we encourage Bro. Wang and help him with plans for
gospel outreaches in the community.
We thank the Lord for another year to serve Him in Taiwan and hope
that there will be much lasting fruit. May God also bless you and
truly make 2008 a great year!

souls,
