“Camp Commitment”
This year’s teen camp was held in Taitung on the east
coast of the island. After a five hour train ride, we arrived
at the camp site and were treated to clean, fresh air and beautiful
scenery. This was far different from what we normally experience
in crowded and polluted Taichung City. Everyone enjoyed it.
Our speaker this year was a Japanese pastor who brought messages
on the theme of “Commitment”. Even though the group
of teens we took from Taya and Lighthouse was much smaller
this year because of classes and testing, those who attended
were challenged and made some important spiritual decisions.
Please pray that they will follow through on their commitments
to follow and serve the Lord.
Following Jesus
About three years ago Huang Chih-Jen (Horace) and his family
started attending services at Lighthouse. He was a Christian
and was concerned about his wife and daughter’s salvation.
His wife did not like any of the Presbyterian churches they
had tried, so he was searching for a church that could help
her. By God’s grace, Angel and their daughter, Lynn,
both soon accepted Christ and began growing in the Lord and
serving at the church. However, Horace still held onto his
Presbyterian roots. We counseled with him and showed him the
scriptures about immersion as well as other doctrinal areas.
He never rejected, but said he would pray about it. We decided
that we would not speak to him again about the matter but would
wait for the Lord to work in his heart. Praise the Lord, Horace
recently came to us and said he wanted to be scripturally
baptized and become a member of the church! How wonderful it is to have
an entire family in the church! Please pray that Horace will
learn more Biblical doctrine that will replace the Presbyterian
traditions that he has grown up with in his life. He has a
humble spirit, and we hope that he will be greatly used by
the Lord.
Thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf!
