Prayer Letter

February 21, 2008

Dear Friends,

It is a joy to see God bless after hours of prayer and preparation!! The last few months we have seen God’s hand in many different ways.

TEEN CAMP
The Bangjak Baptist Church host a yearly teen camp for all the Independent Baptist Churches in Thailand. This year teen camp was Oct 8-12th. We had 90 campers and around 20 staff and counselors that were there. We had a great week of games, sports and activities but the highlight of the camp was seeing almost every camper that came unsaved go back to their churches knowing the Lord as their Savior!! We had 15 accept Christ. Many gave their life to follow Him no matter what the consequences. It was well worth the time, effort and expense to see the great results!!

NATIONAL OLYMPICS FOR THE DISABLED
We got back just in time to do laundry and leave for the southern part of Thailand on a 16 hour train trip to take a team of 43 people to compete representing the Bangjak Baptist Church!! We had a great time witnessing to those on the team who haven’t accepted Christ yet. They were very open and had many questions. Also we had many opportunities to talk to government sports officials who also are the officials going to the Olympics in China next year. They had many questions about what a church is and what exactly Christianity was about. This has become an open door to talking to and getting to know people in the government who can be a help in getting us VISAS in the future if problems arise in staying in the country.

We have been invited to continue to help in translating and the president of the Soccer Association calls often to thank us for our involvement in the community. We now have several people from our church team that has been invited to join the National team of Thailand. It is a great opportunity for them to go and witness.

NOVEMBER
It was good to have Tammy’s parents with us for 3 weeks in November. We enjoyed having them here and they enjoyed getting to know our staff and members in our churches.
We had a great time distributing 3,000 booklets and tracts at the National Handicap Festival on November 10th which is the day Thailand nationally recognizes and focuses on ways to help the disabled.
The Lord has also opened doors for us to get involved with Wycliff and team of linguistics in working to make a DVD Bible in Thai signs for the Deaf. This is exciting and would make the Bible much more understandable for the deaf being as the written Bible is written in a high language.

NEW BIBLE SCHOOL CLASSES OPENED
We have also opened Bible Institute program for the members of our church who are working or attending university in the mornings. Our first class is the Pentateuch and we have 12 adults attending right now for credit. Praise the Lord for those hungry to learn from God’s word.

NEW BELIEVERS!!

It is always a blessing to see people accept Christ. Recently we have had a man from Vietnam accept Christ and also a young lady from Laos who is now living close to the church accept the Lord too. Please be praying they will grow in the Lord!
