Prayer Letter

March 28, 2008

Dear Friends,

We want to share with you about some of our EVANGELISTIC OUTREACHES. In a Buddhist country it is always a challenge to find creative new ways to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. These are some of the opportunities we have had recently.

VALENTINE’S DAY
During the month of February Bangjak Baptist Church has been involved in several different outreaches. Beginning with taking advantage with the worlds’ celebration of Valentine’s Day, we had an evening to discuss The Endless Love of our Savior. This outreach was targeted at Christians and non Christians and the difference between Love of Mankind in contrast to the Heavenly love of the Lord. We hosted a Banquet outside behind the church on February 9th, with many visitors coming to take part. In all we had 93 adults present.

USING SOCCER TO REACH PEOPLES LIVES
The following week starting February 16th, we had young men reporting in from many different provinces to try out for the Bangjak Baptist Deaf Soccer team. Twenty young men stayed at the church; half being our own Christian members ready to answer questions and witness to the new guys on the team. Every morning after practice Pastor Ricky shared with the team about the truth of heaven and hell and the choice we all have to accept or reject salvation the Christ offers to all. The actual National Soccer competition was held from February 22nd till February 26th. Bangjak placed 3rd in the nation but more importantly have between 4 and 5 young men now contemplating salvation, something very new to them.

February27-28th
Bangjak Baptist co-partnered with the Bangka Baptist Hospital in the province of Cha-Chueng Saew to hold medical clinics in two Hill-tribe villages in the provinces of Chiang Rai, and Pyaming Rai with a medical team of doctors, nurses and trained children’s workers from the U.S. We went also to translate and co-ordinate the project. What a blessing it was to see 15 people accept Christ in the midst of seeing over 450 patients and distributing lots of medications. It is a blessing to be able to minister to peoples physical and spiritual needs at the same time.

March 19th
Bagkla Hospital opened their doors for a deaf outreach. The Christian Deaf members of our church got together and distributed flyers to deaf merchants around the downtown area and we had a group of 41 go for blood work, physicals, x-rays and other various medical treatment. We presented the gospel while they were waiting to meet the Dr. and witnessed again to them individually. One man had never heard the story of Christ. One Muslim man accepted Christ at the hospital. We will be following up on each one next month. A man named Suwit had a blood test done and found out he was HIV Positive. Please be praying for him with us that he will make a definite decision to accept Christ.
We saw many physical and spiritual needs throughout the day. Praise the Lord that He is the Great Physician and that we had the opportunity to share that with the deaf.

FRUIT HARVESTED
During the month of March we have had 4 ladies and 3 young men take the step of baptism. Each one was very serious about their decision and could give a very clear testimony of their salvation experience. All seven have received Christ as the result of various different evangelistic outreaches of Bangjak Baptist Church. It is a blessing to see fruit after many hours of labor!!

I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVES, BOW THE KNEE
Easter was a great day here at Bangjak Baptist Church. Many of our members spent hours preparing for the big day with a multimedia presentation, with drama and singing. It was a blessing to see many serving the Lord, even turning down overtime at their jobs so they could be at church for the practices. The college department went to the sky-train station to pass out flyers Saturday morning to invite people to the celebration of the day that changed all of history. We had calls all day at the church from those who received the flyers. Easter Services were great and many people understood the meaning of the empty tomb for the first time.

Thank you for your prayers which certainly have an impact on the efforts here!!

Sincerely in Christ,

Ricky Salmon
