God Answers Prayer Again!

December 7th, as we boarded the American Airline 747 headed back home to Bangkok, we never imagined that in only a few short hours my father would experience 3 severe seizures and Doctors would be calling us back to his bedside telling us the end of his life here on earth was very near. Before we arrived back in Thailand while still in transit, we learned that our home church had tried everything possible to contact us at the LAX Airport in California before leaving the country. That was not God's plan! We had work to do in Thailand first.
As my father's condition did not improve we knew a return trip home was a must. Our only worry was financial. The burden of flying as a family to the other side of the world and then back again can look overwhelming from a human standpoint. I am so thankful that with God all things are possible. We came back together convinced with Christmas coming followed by Y2K, it was the best decision. Many of our supporting churches were contacted about our situation by Pastor Eldridge of Temple Baptist Church, and Pastor Jennings of Park Street Baptist Church. We were so thrilled to watch as one by one checks came that covered exactly the cost of our tickets back. God answers prayer.
May God Bless,
Ricky Salmon

Only Time To Pray!

While we were only home in Thailand a short 2 weeks, one of our pastor's wives had been witnessing to a fellow worker in the hospital. She had decided she really needed to accept the Lord, but was waiting to pray with "the missionary wife". This young lady was only in the hospital a very short time to bring her boss for physical therapy each time she came. By the time we arrived at the hospital and were able to get to a room with her, I had less than 3 minutes to greet her and pray. During our short but very earnest prayer many workers came in and out to see what was the delay in her leaving with "the Boss". She hugged me with tears in her eyes and hurried off. I was thrilled to have such a privilege during our short trip home.

Nakompathome Stable For Another Three Years

Praise the Lord! We have the building for 3 more years!! Our church in Nakompathome struggles every year to renew their lease for one more year. Every year we meet several times with the landlord and listen to his debates about turning our church building into a video arcade or some other schemes to make him more money. Well, we are thankful to report this year, he asked if we could pay 3 years rent in one lump sum. We were surprised, to say the least, but the Lord provided and now Nakompathome Baptist has a stable building situation for the next three years!

Special Prayer Requests:
1. Our trip back home to Bangkok, March 28th.
2. My mother, during this time of adjustment.
3. Family camps during April: salvation decisions, baptisms, God calling pastors, and funds for transportation to and from camp.
4. A bigger building to rent in Bangkok area. We have outgrown the present location.
5. Our families' adjustment back to HOT (100 + degree) weather in Thailand.

Among many of our plans and commitments we had to fulfill before returning to the States; one of those was having the special privilege of attending the yearly Thanksgiving celebration in the Lahu Village up near Chiang Khong. Missionary Tommy Tucker had invited us to take part in preaching and celebrating. We had great services with around 70 in attendance. The services were great and the feast will long be remembered.

Bible Student Takes Mission Trip To Singapore

The first week of January, one of our "pastors in training" had the opportunity to see, first hand, how the Lord is moving in Singapore. We know from experience that when struggling to win souls in a Buddhist country, it is encouraging to see what God can do. The possibilities are endless. Wanchai returned to Thailand with new ideas and more fervor to serve and meet the needs of the Thai churches.

Spotlight-"Our Girl Friday"

Each time we put out the Salmons "Thailand Tribune", we try to spot light a full-time worker in our ministries. Miss Siriwan was saved shortly after coming to Bangkok when she happened to walk by our church in need of a friend. At one time she was involved in assisting in an abortion clinic. Now the Lord is using her to share with others how to be BORN AGAIN. Siriwan is a very dedicated Sunday school teacher and worker. She also teaches English to children in or Saturday evangelistic outreach. During the week she does all of the book keeping, record keeping, printing of flyers and invitations and all the artwork for both the Bangjak and Nakompathome churches. She also lives at the church and maintains the building as well as being the receptionist at the church. Siriwan has been saved now 5 years and has completed 3 years at the Bible Institute. She is presently pursuing a BA degree in Education and recently was certified as a seamstress. Please pray for Siriwan as she serves the Lord and seeks His will for the future.
