James R. McCarty Sr. TestimonyRev. James R. McCarty, (Ma Ya Ge, Mushr) was born on Nov. 14, 1937 in Kentucky, USA. He served in the US Marine Corps after graduation from high school and moved and to work (Thom McAn Shoe Co.) in Florida after retiring from the service. There he met Geraldine Hill, born July 9, 1942 who later became his wife, and together they moved to Dayton, Ohio To live and work. Faith Baptist Church was near the home of the McCarty's and they were there to hear the preaching. It was at this church they accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, and followed The Lord in baptism. This was in June 1964. Mr. McCarty was called by God to preach in 1965. In January of 1966, Mr. & Mrs. McCarty started their study at the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. The McCarty's graduated in 1968 and then surrendered to the mission field the same year. They then completed three years in one of Missions courses. They were led of The Lord to go to Hong Kong, China to preach the Gospel. They went to many Churches to raise support for the field and went to Hong Kong in 1970. They studied Cantonese, operated a rooftop school, and there was a church started in Hong Kong, which became self -supporting. In 1976 they were moved to Taiwan to preach the Gospel. Rev. McCarty and family made their home upon arrival on the island and started assisting other preachers in their work while learning the Chinese language. In 1979 he founded the Bible Baptist Church Neihu a small suburb in Taipei.David Rwan and his wife were married by Bro. McCarty, they are presently serving the Lord as missionaries to the Native Taiwan people now. Rev. McCarty and family moved from Taipei to Gang Wei of the Shweinan District in Taichung in 1985 where they would embark on a new field of labor. Nevertheless, Pastor McCarty and family still traveled to Neihu in Taipei to preach at the Bible Baptist Church each week (200 miles round-trip). In the meantime, he was also actively planning to establish a new church in Tai Chung. With help of Christian friends, the Tan Dz Baptist Church was established in March 1989. At first only Mr. & Mrs. McCarty and family were there, plus a young Christian lady named Amy Hu. Folks were saved, we remember Hank Wang who was the first man saved in Tan Dz. Tom Haung was saved as well as others and they were baptized. Later on Philippine people began attending and many were saved and baptized as well. During this time Rev. McCarty went to Tai Dung to teach in Bible School. In 1995 Rev. McCarty had to go to Anchorage, Alaska, to get a neuro-surgeon to do surgery on his back. While recovering from surgery he and Mrs. McCarty were active in holding home and church Bible meetings for overseas Chinese, Tai, and Lao's. They also spent two years helping The Bible Baptist Church on Annette Island (Alaska's only Indian Reservation), which is in the SE Alaska near Ketchikan, where they saw some folks saved and baptized. After this they returned to Anchorage where they started the first ever Senior's class at the Anchorage Baptist Temple. Also during this time Rev. McCarty made several trips to White Horse, Yukon, to preach in meetings In the Sept.1999 McCarty's were re-instated and began preparations to return to the field of Taiwan, and arrived in Taiwan in Sept. 2000. The McCarty's are
now in the process of starting a new work in the Taichung area. Pray
that The Lord will richly bless the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, and that a Church can be planted through getting people saved,
baptized and grounded in God's Holy Word! |
