January 2008
Dear Friends,
The last few months have been very exciting. On November 30th of
2007, I
married my wife Katrina. It was a beautiful time getting our
families together in Los Angeles. After the wedding Kat and I
were able visit a few of my supporting churches and then spend
Christmas with her family in Vancouver, BC. Several churches
made our trip possible by helping us with our plane tickets, and
again I thank you for responding to our need.
We have been back for 3 weeks now and Kat has continued to be
involved with the music and ladies ministry by leading two Bible
studies and taking 28 women to the National Women’s conference,
‘RefresHER’ hosted by Sumulong Baptist Church. This past Sunday
our church was glad to have 13 visitors from High Street Baptist
Church as they joined our morning services while they are in the
Philippines on a medical mission.
During our pastoral meetings we have been blessed with some of
the sharpest minds I have known. For example there is Edwin, a
pastor in training whose wife just took a job for a dollar a day
so that she can pay for his transportation to Bible College. He
helps us with our sister church and during our meetings asks
great questions, and won’t stop until the right answer is found.
I ask that this month, as for all of our staff and pastors that
you pray for Edwin, his wife, and his little girl. Like many, he
has several needs but also an encouraging passion to be like
Christ and to follow Him. Thank you for your prayers as I will
be letting him know about this.
I thank you for taking interest in our ministry during my stay
in the Philippines and for welcoming my wife to the team. Please
keep in touch and continue to let me know of anything that I can
do for you and your church family.
Take care,
Matt and Kat Johnson
