God has been favoring the Project BLESS outreach where children and families are hearing God’s Word. BLESS stands for Basic Life Empowerment Support System. It contains a literacy component where children learn to read and speak English in about 18-20 weeks. See some of these graduates with Del in Cebu City. There is also a continuing education aspect, a home livelihood and community center for medical and dental assistance. We also made our yearly trek to 8 locations to minister to the staff of the schools. “It is like a revival for us”, said one lady. We thank God for these faithful people who are reaching homes and young people with the plan for successful living. These children memorize more than 100 Bible verses a year. God’s Word hidden the hearts will bear fruit, we know. IN SEPTEMBER God allowed us to be with our youngest son, Perry, and his wife as they went for short term missionary approval in Springfield, MO. They are excited to come and give us a needed hand as the work grows. We are praying for a special breakthrough for us to be the literacy provider for hundreds of thousands of children in the Philippines. Would you please pray for this and that Perry and his family will be able to come soon? IN OCTOBER We hosted over 1,400 delegates at the National Student Convention as they participated in all manner of platform, academic, sports and artistic competitions. 87 high schools from over 487 that we work with came to join this year’s activity. Hundreds made decisions to serve the Lord. From these young people God is calling missionaries and full time workers as well as dedicated Christian professionals. We have graduates in Cambodia, India, Ethiopia and other countries where we could never go. IN NOVEMBER We prepared for the December Musical outreach as our young people presented in 6 Malls in the southern Manila area. Thousands came to hear the Christmas story in a presentation that would draw the crowds. Funds were raised and advertising for the church and BLESS ministry were emphasized. The terrible storms that swept through in September were intensified with more rains and winds. We raised funds and needed supplies to assist these needy people. Thank you all for making it possible for us to continue being your representatives. Yours in His Service, Del and Lora Hooge Missionaries since 1967 |

Dear Friends, IN JULY & AUGUST Visiting our missionaries in Cambodia is a great experience. We are able to go for Awards night at the missionary kids school as well as the graduation of the Bible College. This year we conducted the BLESS training as well as pilot an adult educational outreach while there. Our hearts were touched with the large number of orphans that receive food and shelter as well as education from the hand of both Filipino and American missionaries in this needy land. |
