The Orphan Problem in Cambodia
Twenty seven years of civil war in Cambodia has left
the
country in a state of despair and decay. About 1/3 of the
orphans
in western Cambodia lost at least one of their parents
to a land mine. There are several million land mines
and UXOs
(unexploded ordinance) in Cambodia. Because of this,
there is a seemingly endless supply of Cambodian
orphans. Decades
of warfare have left Cambodia a nation with one of
the highest occurrences of death by landmines. Furthermore,
rampant diseases
such as AIDS, malaria, dengue fever, and tuberculosis,
compounds these problems into leading causes of death:
all contributing
greatly to the growing orphan population in Cambodia.
We have started a Manna
Worldwide Orphanage
here on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. This is also the
location of Capitol City Baptist Church and the Manna
Children's
Feeding Center where 40 children get a nutritious hot meal
twice a day. There is much more that we could do, but we
are constrained by lack of finances. We need your prayers
and financial help! Never does a month go by that we don't
turn away children from the Orphanage and Feeding Center
because we don't have the means to care for them.
