November 2007
This year has been filled with both blessings and trials. We've been through a building project with our new orphanage going up and all the frustrations that go with it. Having something built in the 3rd world by 3rd world building crews can be a strain. But God's grace is always sufficient. The buildings are done now and our family and the orphans and staff have moved in...

We are rejoicing over the great number
of souls saved during 2005! Over 150 souls were saved in
the ministries of our two churches. We baptized 40 new believers
during 2005. Our churches are growing and young men are being
called to preach...

We hope that this letter finds you
doing well during this Christmas season. Christmas 2005
finds us in the midst of a nation of people, 90% of them
followers of the teachings of Buddha. Yet all over Phnom
Penh we see big signs saying “Merry
Christmas!” Most of the people who object to the word “Christmas” are found
in the United States of America, sadly enough... November 2005
We are still lacking approximately $5,000-$6,000
towards the
completion of our church building. Our Cambodian brethren
purchased a plot of land and began the construction themselves
while we were on
furlough last year. They gave the initial $15,000 for the land and beginning
construction. Folks, this was very sacrificial on their part!...

Things are going well out in Prey Veng
province where the Calvary Bible Baptist Church is now under
the leadership of Cambodian pastor Ly Kimlong. The work is
primarily reaching the high school and college and career
age groups...

Hello once again from Cambodia! What
a blessing it is to be back in Southeast Asia! We
missed our people here and we all enjoyed a happy reunion!...
January 2005
We have very exciting news to tell you about in this update. Our Cambodian ministry
partner Seyhar Suong was given some money by his mother. Seyhar's mom had sold
some land and wanted to give the money to her son. He and his wife wanted to
do something for the Lord and to advance the cause of the ministry in Cambodia...

Greetings from the highways and byways of America!
As most of you know, we are on a brief furlough now.
We are reporting to our supporting churches and also
attempting to raise some additional and much needed
support.

Furlough
time has arrived for the Haas family! Some
may ask, “What’s
a furlough?” Following the example of the missionary
journeys of the apostle Paul, missionaries periodically
return to their home church and supporting churches
in order to report personally about God’s work.
So, we are now back in the U.S. for furlough...

Broken bodies, broken cars, and broken motorcycles:That’s
the theme for this update. Several years ago, I broke
my
ankle in Tyler, Texas, and tore the ligaments in my left
ankle. It has been giving me problems again...

The
church is doing well here and we have visitors every
Sunday. During the week we have folks in our church conducting
small group Bible studies in the surrounding village
and community. These are going well and producing fruit
in the lives of new believers.

Christmas in
Cambodia! No snow, no cold wind to chill the bones, no chestnuts
roasting on an open fire, or Jack Frost nipping at your
nose. Christmas in Cambodia is 85 degree heat, swaying
coconut and sugar palms, the sound of Buddhist monks
chanting in the distance, and no rain for the past eight
weeks and no rain in sight.

Here in
Cambodia, we were blessed to be able to celebrate this holiday
with some missionary friends. Yes, we
can get a turkey in Cambodia, but they are expensive. But
when three missionary families split up the cost, it's not
so bad. This will probably shock you but a turkey in Cambodia
cost $60 U.S...

August
and September were two months filled with both trials
and blessings. I guess we’ll tell you about the
trials first. Cindy fell and injured her hand and I
began developing chest pains. Upon the advice of our
doctor,
we hurriedly put together a trip to Thailand...
AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2003
What a great summer we have had
here in Cambodia! We took almost 40 kids to youth camp,
along with 250 from other churches! There were souls
saved at camp and Christian kids getting some issues
right between them and God...
