Dear Co-Labourers in Christ:
It was in the afternoon of August 17th when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and heard the voices of Peter, Rynn and their two children from Indonesia singing "Happy Birthday, Grandma." what a thrill as I recognized the voices of our Filipino missionaries who
are now serving as missionaries in Indonesia supported by our Filipino churches. Peter was saved in the first church we established in the Philippines in 1966 and Rynn was later saved while attending law school in Tacloban. Les had the
privilege of marrying this couple while he was working as assistant pastor in our church.
Later they established a church on Samar. It was here that God called them into missionary service, and he was the first Filipino pastor to surrender for the mission field.
As I listened to them, realizing that they had to get up at 4 a.m. their time
to greet me on my 80th birthday, I couldn't help but think as I looked back over the years we spent on the mission field about the boys in our Sunday School classes and now realized that three of them are on the mission
field, one in Taiwan, one in Vietnam and Peter in Indonesia.
God is good and I can look back on the years we spent in the
Philippines and say "IT WAS WORTH IT ALL."
Please pray for Pastor Basilan as he finally received his visa to Taiwan.
It had been a long process but it was finally granted. However he was unable to obtain one for his wife and two children so they will have to remain in the Philippines until he can obtain theirs.
Please pray that he will be able to do this quickly so his family can be with him.
Thank you again for your continued support.
My medical bills in recent months have been quite high, but your continued support has helped me to meet them, and it is because of your faithful support in the past that we were able to stay on the field and present the Gospel to young men like the ones mentioned above.
Only eternity will reveal
the final results.
