Biographical Sketch
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, the 5th of
nine children. I accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of 10
and later as a young teen felt the call of God on my life for
missions. The example of my parents, Bill and Doris Askew, and
exposure to missionaries had a great influence on me. The way in
which God allowed that early desire to finally come to fruition
is truly a work of God’s grace.
After graduating from high school, I attended Baptist Bible
College in Springfield, Missouri majoring in music. In 1972 I
graduated and took a job teaching music and working as staff
pianist at the South Dade Baptist Church in Homestead, Florida.
It was through that church’s ministry that Malcom Feistel came
to know Christ and we met. We spent the first year of our
married life in Taiwan courtesy of the US Air Force. God used
that year to show us our future ministry.
Several years later after completing our degrees at BBC and our
family increased to 4 children, we were approved as Baptist
Bible Fellowship missionaries and sent out through the Noble
Hill Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri. Our youngest son was
born during deputation. We arrived on the field of Taiwan in
1981.
I spent the last 25 years raising our children and working along
side of my husband planting churches, training musicians,
evangelizing women and children, winning the Taiwanese for
Christ. In 2005 Malcom was diagnosed with a rare form of colon
cancer and less than a year later on June 22, 2006 he went home
to be with the Lord. I am returning to Taiwan to continue
serving the Lord, working in team with other missionary
families, for as long as the Lord wills.
