Missionary
Malcom David Feistel, 53, entered the presence of his Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, June 22, 2006 after a
year-long battle with colon cancer.
Malcom was the son of Herbie and Marie Feistel of Austin, Texas.
Born on December 8th, 1952, Malcom graduated from Lanier High School
in June, 1971 and joined the USAF in July of that year. In October
of 1972 Malcom believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, repented of his
sins and accepted Christ as his Savior. Two months later he was sent
to Taiwan for a tour of duty with the Air Force. Carol Askew joined
him and they were married on January 19, 1973.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Malcom
attended Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri where he
graduated in 1979 with a B.A. in Missions. He later received his
Masters degree from Columbia International University, Columbia, SC.
In 1978 Malcom became pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in
Morrisville Missouri until August of 1979. In September 1979 he
became a missionary to Taiwan.
During his missionary career, Malcom (along with the help and
support of his family) established the Jung Shan Baptist Church of
Taiping City, Taiwan and the Dali Faith Baptist Church, Dali City,
Taiwan. Hundreds of Taiwanese, Chinese, Filipino and peoples of
other nations heard Malcom preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and
were saved. Malcom also helped start and later served as principal
of the Chinese Baptist Bible College.
Malcom is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Marie Feistel
and his second child, daughter Susan Kay Mallett. He is survived by
his wife of 33 years, Carol; four children: Amy Feistel of Cary, NC;
Nancy Sidebottom of Springfield, MO; TSgt Andrew Feistel, USAF, of
Knob Noster, MO; and 1st LT Richard Feistel USMC, of MCAS New River,
NC; five grandchildren: Charles, Abigail, and Spencer Sidebottom,
Kyle and Kaycia Feistel; one brother, Claude Feistel of Austin, TX;
one sister, Janice McNeil of Cypress Springs, TX, and many loving
family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, at
Noble Hill
Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri with internment at the
Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
