Dear Friends,
Janice and I send you our warmest greetings from Jakarta. Actually right now Jakarta is warm and wet, so perhaps we should send the wet greeting also! We do appreciate you folks and we do want to thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support over this last month.
Last month Pastor Lewis McClendon and his wife Karen from Ventura Baptist Church spent a week with us. During that time Brother McClendon taught a block class in our Bible school. About 60 pastors and students attended the three day class entitled the Servant of the Lord, taken from II Timothy 2:24-26. Brother McClendon had prepared and sent me the material well in advance, so I was able to have all the material translated and ready when he arrived. The classes went well with about 35 students taking a written test the following week. A little over half of those taking the test received one semester hour of credit for the class.

Brother McClendon also spoke in three of our churches here in Jakarta. Karen, his wife spoke to the wives of the pastors while Brother McClendon spoke to the pastors on Friday. Brother McClendon and his wife were a real blessing, not only to Janice and I, but also the pastors and churches here in Jakarta. A special thanks to the folks at Ventura Baptist Church for sharing their pastor with us.
This week Brother Daley and I made the second payment on the Nias Bible Project. The arrow on the payment schedule indicates the last payment made. We ask that you would pray that the Lord will allow us to meet the payment schedule so we can get the Bibles for the junior high students on Nias island in a timely manner. Several of our churches have taken part in the project already, and it is our prayer that each church will have some part in the project. We have received several more encouraging emails telling us how church groups and Sunday school classes are working to gather funds for the Nias Bible Project. Please continue to pray and think of ways you could help in getting these Bibles purchased.

The semester in the Bible school is drawing toward the end and I still have lots of material that I need to cover! We have a good group of students and I have really enjoyed teaching them this semester. I think I chased a few to many rabbits in class and consequently I find myself behind in getting my material covered! Pray for our students as they prepare themselves to become effective servants of our Lord.
We would ask you to especially pray for Pastor Markus and his church here in Jakarta. They are starting to renovate their building and they need your prayers. They have sufficient funds for the renovation, but they are truly sheep among wolves.
Janice and I will be leaving Jakarta on the 14th of December to spend Christmas with our family in New England. We do ask you to pray for us as we make this trip.
For all your faithful prayers for the ministry here in Jakarta we are truly thankful.
In Christ,
