Dear Friends,
Janice and I send you greetings from Jakarta. We trust
this letter finds you folks all doing well. Your faithful prayers and
financial support for the ministry here in Indonesia provide the means
for us to continue our various ministries. We do appreciate you folks
and we want to regularly share all the news with you.
Over the last few weeks, I have spent a major portion
of my time on the island of Nias. The ministry there continues to produce
good results. Pastor Formil and his folks at the Soonogeue church are
working to rebuild their church building which was totally destroyed
by the earthquake. Although, the construction of the church building
is going slow, the church itself is growing and expanding. Recently,
a man gave Pastor Formil a small piece of land on a mountain overlooking
the Pasir Putih area. This is right in the area where the

folks that
had to flee their homes in the Pasir Putih area of Teluk Dalam are
living in tents. We have seen many of these folks from the Pasir
Putih area get saved over the past few months and we are praying that
God will raise up a good church among them. The new work in Gunung
Sitoli is facing some growing pains, but folks are continuing to be
saved. Please pray especially for Pastor Julianus as this young man
struggles with leading the church in Gunung Sitoli.
The various aid projects we are involved with on Nias
island have taken a good portion of my time over the past few weeks.
Brother Jan Milton and Dr. Gregory Waller spent several days with me
on Nias. Brother Milton's organization, Operation Renewed Hope, plans
to send a medical team and also perhaps a building team to Nias in
November of this year. Over the next few months I will be working on
the logistics necessary to make these teams a blessing to the

folks
on Nias. Also, I have spent time working on the water filtration
plants we have installed on Nias island. These water filtration units
are wonderful, but so far it has been difficult to get them properly
installed. This last week I spent several days in Nias with Brother
Jan Daniel, an Indonesian pastor, who is also trained in water filtration.
He gave me wonderful hands on training in installing and working with
the units. Although, the units are not yet being used as desired, I
believe we will get folks trained to use these units to provide drinking
water for many needy folks on Nias Island. Pray that the Lord will
use the water units and the teams that will be coming from Operation
Renewed Hope to be a blessing to the people on Nias Island. Also, if
you would like to have a part in the various projects we are helping
with in Nias, please mark your special offering, Nias Project. Please
continue to pray for our churches here in Jakarta. Pastor Raso and
the folks at the Cileduk church are being pressed by fanatical elements
seeking to close down their church. So far the community has not
allowed the fanatical elements to destroy the church. The community
leaders provided for a meeting between Pastor Raso and two of the fanatical
leaders in the community. This meeting was held where the church meets.
Pastor Raso fielded the
complaints of the fanatical elements in the presence of the main community
leaders. After agreeing to certain changes in the building, Pastor
Raso was able to gain the support of the main community leaders who
have allowed the church to continue using and renovating the building.
The crisis is far from passed, so Pastor Raso and the folks at the
Cileduk Baptist Church covet your prayers. Yet, in the mist of this,
Pastor Raso and his folks have started another work in a- new area
where they have had seven folks saved and present themselves for baptism.
Also, Janice and I were at Pastor Yusuf's church in Cibubur this last
Sunday. Many of you have been praying for Pastor Yusuf as his church
has been involved in a building project. Your prayers have been answered!
We met with the church for the first time in the new building. It is
something, and it is hard to believe that they have the amount of building
for the money they possessed. The story is simple, God provided an
engineer friend of Pastor Yusuf's who not only designed the building,
but helped with the construction. The interior of the building still
needs some finishing, and I trust that some of you folks will send
an offering to help. Please mark your offering for the Cibubur Church.
Please continue to pray for Pastor Hadir at the Sunter Church and
Pastor Munjait at the Pelumpang Church. Also remember that several
of our churches here in Jakarta and in other parts of Indonesia are
facing closure by fanatical elements in the community.
Due to my involvement in the Nias projects, I will not be teaching
at the Bible school this semester. Lord willing, next semester I will
once again be teaching in the Bible school here in Jakarta.
We now have a stateside phone number (417-429-0398) that rings our
computer in Jakarta. If you call when our computer is not up, you can
leave a message and we will return your call.
For your faithful prayers and financial support, we are truly thankful.
In Christ,
