Dear Friends,
Janice
and I send you greetings from Mississippi. The past two months, we
traveled from Chesapeake, Virginia to Vallejo, California. Right now we
are journeying back to Virginia. We have visited our churches in
Arizona, Texas, California, Louisiana and Mississippi. We are tired of
traveling, but we have enjoyed being with our churches. You folks are
wonderful.
Although we haven't received much
news
from Jakarta, we do want to share a couple of items with you. We received
news this week that Pak Tulus passed away. Pak Tulus was one of the first
members of the Cipulir Baptist Church in Jakarta. We have known him for
over 35 years, and his faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ never
wavered. He loved his Savior, his church and his pastor. Please remember
to pray for his wife and family.
Pastor Andar and the folks at Kasih Karunia Baptist
Church in Batam are continuing to work on their church building. Thanks to
your generous offerings, I have been able to help them with this project.
Please be in prayer for this church as they are getting opposition from
their community concerning the building. It is a strange situation as
Pastor Andar's building is registered with the local government and it is
recognized as an official church building. Pray that the Lord will give
Pastor Andar wisdom in facing this opposition from his local community.
Please continue to pray for the young churches in Nias
(Hilidohona, Hilifelago, Bothalaka). Also please continue to pray for
Pastor Formil and his wife Christina in South Nias. This is the young
couple that is struggling in their marriage. It is difficult to see Pastor
Formil's ministry destroyed because he will not obey God's design for
marriage. Pray for all the Nias pastors that they will be willing to
become Biblical examples in their marriages.
We
are winding up our furlough. In April, we have a few more meetings on the
East Coast, and then, Lord willing, we will return to Indonesia on the
27th of April. We have had an enjoyable time here in the States over these
past seven months. You folks in our churches have: loved us, supplied our
every need (including a few whims), oohed and aah-ed over what God has
done through the ministry in Indonesia, gathered around and prayed for us,
in short you have made us feel very special.
At the present time, we are with our daughter, Janelle
Swann. Janelle, is in the States to get help with some medical problems
she has been experiencing over the past few years. Her husband, Steve, and
their four children are in Sofia, Bulgaria. Please pray that the Lord will
provide the health Janelle needs so she can quickly return to Bulgaria.
For your faithful prayers and financial support we are
truly thankful.
In Christ,
