LLOYD AND EDITH BAKER
MISSIONARIES TO THE PHILIPPINES

Novermber/December 2009 - January 2010

Dear Praying Friends:

I have included a prayer letter from Josue Satunero and family, ABC missionaries in Uganda. In my opinion this couple demonstrates the commitment and sacrifice of our Filipino and Asian missionaries! Thank God for them. Would you pray for this coupIe?

January brought sad news to our family. My younger brother, Dwane, went home to be with the Lord on January 3. He suffered a massive stroke about midnight on Friday the 1st and left this earthly life Sunday at 12:30 pm. Memorial services were held at West Division Street Baptist Church, Springfield. MO. and for family members at Furley Methodist Church n Furley, KS. Dwane and I grew up in Furley. He and his family have served as BBFI missionaries in Ethiopia, England and Haiti.

Dwane's wife, Janice, is handling her husband's home going well surrounded by her four daughters and their husbands. God had called Janice to the mission field before she met Dwane and plans to return to Haiti as a single missionary in the near future. The Lord has opened several avenues of ministry there. Please pray for her.

Dwane and Janice have a six year old granddaughter, Ester, who has been diagnosed with a rare and rapid growing cancer. It has spread to her spine, lungs and stomach. Chemotherapy offered very little hope. So, unless the Lord works a miracle in h r life, she will also be with Jesus in a short time. My sister's son, Mac, was given chemotherapy and adiation for cancer of the pancreas. It was pronounced cancer free but not before it spread to the liver. Once again available treatments offer almost no hope. Mac is in his fifties and, thankfully, ready to go. Please pray for him, his wife and son and my sister as they prepare for the worst if the Lord chooses not to intervene.

January brought one more disappointment to us. Bro. Paul Ebert had agreed to join ABC upon his return from furlough this year and take my place at ABC. But Paul feels the Lord is leading him to have a ministry in the states and has resigned as a BBFI missionary. At 76 I felt it was time for a younger man to assist Paul Byars, Director of ABC, and to prepare for future leadership. I had made a commitment to stay with ABC until the end of this year. That will be extended to the end of March in 2011 when we take a 6 months furlough. After furlough we will wait on the Lord for directions. Please pray for us and ABC.

In spite of the losses and sadness we see the Lord's goodness and grace in our lives. One thing I praise the Lord for is my dear wife. We will celebrate 54 years of marriage in June and it just keeps getting better all the time. We also thank God for your partnership and prayers in our ministry.

Together in His harvest;

Lloyd and Edith Baker
