Hello to you all,
I need to give up to date current info on the family here in
Manila. As I type this it is Monday evening the 6th of
November. Sunday evening I took Laura Grace to the
hospital near our home for some blood work that a nurse
friend had suggested. Laura has had a temperature since late
evening on the first.
Anyway her white blood count
was 2.5 this is very low. It should be between 5 and 10. I
called a very good pediatrician this morning in Makati and
she agreed to see Laura when I read her the hematology
report. She confirmed that Laura has dengue. Alison just got
over it a few days ago.
The doctor wanted to put
her in the hospital, but it was so far from home (Makati is
a minimum of and hour and an half from our house) so I asked
if we could delay till the evening. She said I could get
another round of tests done closer to home and then call her
with results and we could see if we still needed to admit
her. Went to Manila East around 4 and got another round of
blood tests. Laura's white count is up to 3.2 which is still
low, but going up. Praise the Lord. So, the doctor is
letting us stay home which is where we want to be.
I was actually excited to
learn she had dengue as I had spent Sunday night searching
the Internet and the diseases that go with a low white count
are not good (leukemia) things like that.
Pray for Laura, pray for
me and pray for Roger who has to process all this from state
side. I am floored at all the health problems we have
encountered since September. This is our fourth case of
dengue. I have approached the leaders in our neighborhood
requesting that they spray but since no one else but us have
gotten it, they are dragging their feet. We have a large
empty lot next to our house where I think these mosquitoes
might be breeding. These last two cases with the little
girls have happened while Roger and Sam have been in the
states and I am emotionally and physically exhausted.
That is the latest news for now--Tammy
