  News Letter Update

June 29, 2007

Hi there to all,

I am typing this on Word and then pasting in. We have internet, got it Wednesday the 27th in the evening. But when we try to type emails we get half way thru and the thing gets an error report and times out!!! AARRGGHH.

We have moved and house is all a-tumble. Eating outside in our yard (thank you Lord) due to rooms being painted. The well seems to be working ok for now, Roger says water is fouled and he needs to fix that. We have water, but do need to conserve as we get water every other day for and hour to hour and a half. After that we rely on the well.

The yard is full of children, loud, laughing—plus two dogs and a cat—plus mango, papaya, coconut, star fruit, jack fruit and santol trees. Not to mention bugs and bats. Parts of this house are the pits, but they are overshadowed by the blessings. So much broke or was termite infested that we could not move in till the 14th even though we took possession the 1st. Also something wakes me up nightly as it scrabbles above my head in the ceiling—it is loud and big. Still I am home.

Right after the move on the 14th the group from Antioch came, bearing gifts. I have eaten 4 bags of licorice already!!! We received so many wonderful things in that suitcase. Thanks to Adam for carrying it over and thanks to so many of you who helped fill it with goodies. I have a new outfit that fits great thanks to Kathy, and new fingernail polish plus other pampering stuff from Karen, plus a new Bible study (thanks for the card, my Bible study buddies and pictures, Cassy), plus a Bocce yard game, food goodies like CHEESE (thanks Mom and Dad Akers) and corn taco shells (we have had tostadas twice already!!!) I know many of you not named also contributed to that suitcase and we are so very grateful. Thanks Sissy for getting it all together and packing it. I did not even mention the coffee and the other candy and and and. Love those Altoids too!!!! Christmas in June!!!!

In the midst of this move, and the daily catastrophes (the pressure tank blew, the well broke 3 times and Roger had to track down water leaks (lots from bad toilet tank guts that had to be replaced), the Antioch team came over to eat Saturday evening, Sunday lunch and Sunday evening. Probably about 25 to 30 people each time. The house was full and we had some great fellowship. Roger took them to the airport and two days later picked up another team from Overland Park Baptist. This team leaves on the 4th. They are here principally to see Greg Lyons, but they also support us so we will be spending time with them too.

Right now I am discipling 5 to 6 ladies every Saturday morning from 9 to 1130. Our church has gone to 2 services one Saturday evening and one Sunday morning in early May (not to long before the move) and that is going well. Just ask one of the young men who came to visit, they can show you pictures and tell you about it. But need to prepare for that (this is Friday night) and I am tired. Love you all; we hope to get the rest of the repainting, repairs and cleaning finished soon so we can get a regular news letter out in the next week or so.

Pray for us!
Now thanks [be] unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.  2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)
